Incorporating the 2015 Color of the Year – Marsala
January 5, 2015
In keeping with the yearly tradition of unveiling the this year’s hot hue, Pantone recently announced their color of the year. More commonly known as a Sicilian wine or recipe ingredient, 2015 is the year of Marsala.
This red-brown shade has been a popular color for fall/winter beauty and fashion trends for the past couple of years and is now gaining popularity in other areas of art and design. Pantone.com describes Marsala as a dramatic tone that “…embodies the satisfying richness of a fulfilling meal while its grounding red-brown roots emanate a sophisticated, natural earthiness.” The Executive Director of the Pantone Color Institute, Leatrice Eiseman, continues to praise the color that “enriches our mind, body and soul, exuding confidence and stability. Marsala is a subtly seductive shade, one that draws us into its embracing warmth.”
HOW CAN YOU INCORPORATE MARSALA IN YOUR HOME?
Give your walls a fresh coat of paint, dress your living room with Marsala throw pillows or vases, or perhaps new linens or stemware for your kitchen. Marsala also takes on different personalities when used with different textures. Add a shiny lamp, accent bowl, or vase for a touch of glamour. Or incorporate a plush rug or couch for more of a natural feel. Marsala takes on a unique look depending on how it is styled and can be utilized in many types of architecture whether it be traditional, modern, or any where in between. To help you get your shopping started, we’ve compiled a few places and ideas you can purchase Marsala-esque items for your home.
